Named by Restaurant News as the city whose “Restaurants Sizzle,” Sacramento has evolved into a vibrant dining Mecca. Time magazine has also named Sacramento the most diverse city in America, which is reflected in the many flavors found in restaurants throughout the region.
To showcase these sizzling restaurants, chefs from the capital region will tempt taste buds and tickle palates as they display their talents with savory spices and a set timer.
Take one market basket filled
with the freshest ingredients; add a gourmet chef, time
for 25 minutes and voila, a recipe for the Chef’s
Challenge presented by the Institute of Technology.
Last year’s competition was fierce as four teams battled it out with spatulas, spoons and whisks! Oh, my! Each team, consisting of a chef and an assistant, was given 25 minutes to produce and serve up a dish featuring fresh produce and a choice cut of meat. Teams competed in two rounds, and winners advanced to the finals to prepare and serve another creative and mouth-watering dish in minutes.
This year's Chef's Challenge presented by the Institute of Technology Culinary will be co-hosted by Mark S. Allen from CW31's Good Day Sacramento, and Jackie Taylor of oodleboxtv.com. These two might even show-up the chefs. Don't miss the best Chefs' Challenge in Grape Escape history! The first two rounds of competition begin at 4:15 pm and 5:15 pm. The championship round kicks off at 6:15 pm.
